Haoyong Lan is the engineering faculty librarian of Carnegie Mellon University Libraries, where he specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) literacy education and systematic review methodology. He serves as co-chair of CMU Libraries' Advance AI Literacy Task Force and is a member of the AI Fluent Workforce Task Force, leading efforts to develop comprehensive AI literacy frameworks and resources for the CMU community. His work bridges engineering education, information science, and emerging technology integration to enhance research capacity across engineering disciplines.
Lan has developed and taught systematic review courses for interdisciplinary students and regularly contributes to scholarly conferences and publications on generative AI literacy, research data management, and information literacy in engineering contexts. He received a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's degree in Library and Information Science both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include explainable artificial intelligence, engineering research competency, scientometrics, digital library, and information retrieval.
