The seventh annual CMU Student Energy Research Poster Competition featured 19 posters presented by CMU students from across the university. From the School of Architecture to the College of Engineering, students presented their novel research focused on topics ranging from li-ion battery packs, to greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero architecture. Nearly $2,000 in prizes was awarded to the most compelling posters:

Honorable Mention Katherine Jordan
- First Place - $700: "Towards 4D Visualization of Urban Building Environmental Performance: Analysis of Manhattan’s Residential Energy and Water Use Performance Data" by Architecture Engineering and Construction Management PhD students Kushagra Varma and Nihar Pathak
- Second Place - $450: "Future of Retired Electric Vehicles Li-ion Battery Packs" by Energy Science, Technology and Policy (EST&P) master's student Prathit Dave
- Third Place - $350: "Future Data Center Energy Efficiency and Consumption" by Electrical and Computer Engineering undergraduate student Alby Penney and masters student Zhen Zang
- Innovation Prize - $500: "Greenhouse Gas Estimates of LNG Exports Must Include Global Market Effects" by Engineering and Public Policy PhD student Sean Smillie

- "Zero-Emission Vehicles? Not Without Climate Policy" by Engineering and Public Policy PhD student Katherine Jordan
- "Energy Demand in Paper and Pulp Industry" by Energy Science, Technology and Policy (EST&P) masters students Manish Sainani, Prathit Dave, Sruthi Mahalaxmi Easwaran and Civil and Environmental Engineering masters student Ritika Chopra
- "Design Optimization for Net Zero Energy Apartment Buildings in Lebanon: A Parametric Performance Analysis" by Doctor of Design Candidate Naim Jabbour
This year's competition was planned and hosted by Scott Institute intern and EST&P master student, Alexandra Kramer. Six judges from industry, government and academia virtually reviewed and scored the posters as part of CMU Energy Week 2022’s virtual programming.
