Scott Institute Hosts Inaugural CMU Electric Vehicle Show

On April 22, in celebration of Earth Day 2023, the Scott Institute hosted CMU’s first ever Electric Vehicle (EV) Show, held in the Morewood Gardens parking lot. Several CMU faculty and staff brought their EVs, showed attendees what they looked like under the hood, and talked about their experiences owning an EV. Despite the cold and rainy weather about two dozen CMU faculty, staff, students, and members of the general public came to the event to see and learn more about EVs. Materials Science and Engineering professor Anthony Rollett brought his Kia EV6. CMU alumnus Chris Gassman brought his Chevy Bolt. Scott Institute Energy Fellow and Mechanical Engineering professor Venkat Viswanathan brought his Tesla Model S, his electric scooter, and electric one-wheeler. Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management and Campus Services & University Engineer Steven Guenther brought his Nissan Leaf. Scott Institute Energy Fellow and Engineering and Public Policy professor Paulina Jaramillo brought her Chevy Bolt. Electrical and Computer Engineering professor and Associate Dean for Research for the College of Engineering Franz Franchetti brought his Volkswagen e-Golf.

Energy Science, Technology, and Policy Director and Materials Science and Engineering professor Paul Salvador brought his RadRunner 2 Electric Utility Bike.
